Our Story

How we started

The idea for the Disability Awareness Council began when we noticed a gap in understanding and inclusion within school communities. Among my classmates and peers, stereotypes were common, and information about disabilities was limited. We saw firsthand how these misconceptions could lead to exclusion and discomfort. We recognized that education would be crucial in bringing about change. We started creating informational videos about our sister’s disability in her school, and received appreciation and encouraging feedback from educators and classmates.

What started as a personal mission to share accurate information and help others feel included has grown into a movement to empower students and communities to challenge stigma, celebrate all abilities, and build a more inclusive future through school outreach and educational talks.

Join us! Please sign up to be our school ambassadors and volunteers for our outreach events.

Together, WE INSPIRE.
